Great leaders are revealed in the eye of the storm

In a calm sea, every ship has a good captain, great leaders are revealed in the eye of the storm

Trials and challenges are inevitable .

How we prepare and show up, how we conduct ourselves and lead others during these storms defines our leadership

If you have achieved your position & authority through force and aggression, you will lose support of people when your need it most.

If you have earned your leadership through calm resolve based on purpose-driven vision, humility, and even-handed treatment of people, your power will be consolidated and supported by colleagues

Only by acting decisively in moments of truth; conducting ourselves humanely and persevering with balance & kindness can we have a genuine influence in turbulent times.

There is always temptation to drive recklessly into battle with a clenched fist & a noisy ego, but we are guaranteed a humiliating defeat if we turn our limitations loose in this way.

A great leader endures by keeping fear and inferior emotions in check by acting with a higher purpose, proceeding cautiously, consistently, resolutely, with a clear vision of collaborative success.

During turbulent times, your success will be determined by how you conduct yourself internally and how you engage with others

If you remain alert, calm, humble, just, and decisive all will go well. If you are gentle and humane, you will have the allegiance of those around you.

Advance cautiously when the time is right, and when it is not, do not allow your ego to stand in the way of retreat and disengagement. Zoom in. Zoom out.

Remember that success in any conflict comes when we retain our inner poise, our neutrality, and our equanimity. These can only be secured by placing our fears and vulnerabilities under the leadership of our superior values and higher consciousness.

Achieve this and you’ll successfully captain your ship through the eye of the storm.
